The entire Titans offense could be listed as potential breakout stars, but the player who needs to take the next step forward in his career is Marcus Mariota. The former second-overall pick went from throwing 26 touchdowns to nine interceptions his sophomore year to 13 touchdowns to 15 interceptions. In fact, Mariota was one of two quarterbacks who started at least 15 games with an interception ratio higher than his touchdown ratio, the other being former Brown DeShone Kizer.

Mariota feels like he has another level to hit in order to push him into the top-half of quarterbacks in the NFL. He did lead the league with three fourth-quarter comebacks and four game-winning drives. Mariota also had five games when he didn’t throw a touchdown, and six of his wins were one-score games, pin that on whichever team or side of the ball you’d like.

Simply put, when you think about the top quarterbacks in the NFL, the former number two overall pick doesn’t come to mind. With a solid collection of talent around him, this could be the year Mariota proves he’s a top-tier quarterback.
