Philadelphia Eagles: 5 Training Camp Battles to Watch
Special Teams/Punter
Much of special teams runs off the running back conversation from earlier. Philadelphia will see what Darren Sproles can do at 35-years-old as a punt returner and if Donnel Pumphrey has found his spark.
This will also be where Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson make their money next year as gunners and potentially return specialists.

After bouncing between kickers since David Akers left in 2010, the Eagles hope Jake Elliott is their guy. False hopes have been drawn from Alex Henery, Cody Parkey, and Caleb Sturgis in recent years, but Elliott proved himself in the playoffs.
Punter is the Eagles biggest question on special teams with Donnie Jones no longer with the team. Former Ohio State punter Cameron Johnston was undrafted and signed by Philadelphia in 2017 and spent the entire season without making a single kick. Philadelphia brought Johnston back this offseason, making him the only punter on their roster.
Failing to add a punter in the draft with limited pick capital, the Eagles are likely to sign a veteran punter this summer to compete with Johnston. Brad Wing and Brad Nortman are options on the free agent market the Eagles could sign as low risk, high reward competition for Johnston.
