The Denver Broncos capped off a very strong 2018 NFL Draft class with an undrafted free agent sleeper pickup in Colorado RB Phillip Lindsay…

The Denver Broncos had a really strong draft class in 2018, headlined by top pick Bradley Chubb. But the Broncos are famous for finding players that can contribute as undrafted free agent pickups, from Rod Smith in the 90s to a streak of nearly a decade-and-a-half of undrafted players making the opening day roster since the early 2000s.

The Broncos pride themselves on being able to find talent in the undrafted free agent pool and developing that talent along the way.

Some of the more notable players you may recognize are Pro Bowl selections Chris Harris Jr. and C.J. Anderson.

One player who is hoping to become the next in a long line of successful undrafted players in Denver is Aurora, CO native, Denver South high school graduate, and Colorado Buffaloes running back Phillip Lindsay.

Nicknamed the ‘Tasmanian Devil’, Lindsay packs a big punch in a small package, and showed out at the Colorado pro day after not receiving an invitation to the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine in front of a ton of NFL scouts and executives, including John Elway, Matt Russell, Gary Kubiak, and Vance Joseph.

Lindsay tore his ACL as a senior in high school, leading to his being under-recruited before redshirting in 2013 at Colorado.

He worked his way back to full health and became the scout team player of the year as a freshman, and it is that kind of tenacity that could help him make the Denver Broncos’ roster in 2018.

At 5-foot-7, 184 pounds, Lindsay is a very small back but like I said, he’s a tough guy to bring down.

He left Colorado as the school’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards, yards from scrimmage, and rushing yards.

He was an honorable mention All Pac 12 selection last year and was named a team captain, a theme among Broncos rookies this offseason.

At the Colorado pro day, he ran a blazing 4.39-second 40-yard dash with a 35-inch vertical jump and 14 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds.

This is a quick, strong dude.

He’s really just a natural on the football field as well, able to contribute as both a runner and receiver out of the backfield. He caught 53 passes in 2016 with the Buffaloes.

That kind of production and his production from his days as a high school star in Colorado on up have set expectations sky high for Broncos fans.

Lindsay is certainly ready to live up to them.
