4th Round:  Chase Edmonds (RB, Fordham) – C+

David Johnson is the man in the backfield for Arizona. That’s obvious. What the team needed was more depth and somebody who could compliment him in different ways. That’s what Edmonds will do.  He ate up lower-level competition with his mix of decisiveness, athleticism, and above-average speed. He should serve as a nice change-of-pace option who can be a threat in the passing game.

6th Round:  Chris Campbell (CB, Penn State) – C

Patrick Peterson had hoped the Cardinals would add more help at cornerback. Technically they did here but it’s hard to be excited about Chris Campbell. He’s got size and length on his side, but few other things stand out. His technique is spotty and he doesn’t show the fluidity or speed that will be required to hang with receivers in the NFL. Not unless he improves his discipline.

7th Round:  Korey Cunningham (OT, Cincinnati) – C

Adding more bodies to the front five is never a bad idea. The 7th round is typically about getting players with physical upside. That’s what the Cardinals did here with Cunningham. He’s got the size and athletic traits. What he doesn’t show enough of is strength or technical prowess. Those two deficiencies will get his quarterback killed if he sees the field too soon. This is clearly a project player.
