2018 NFL Draft: David Akers destroys Dallas Cowboys in their house
Former Philadelphia Eagles kicker David Akers one-upped Drew Pearson with his announcement of Eagles top pick Dallas Goedert…
The story of the 2018 NFL Draft is not the first round starting and ending with Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks. The story of the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft is former Philadelphia Eagles kicker David Akers.
What?
That’s right. David Akers stole the spotlight, and rightfully so just one year after former Dallas Cowboys legend Drew Pearson came into Philadelphia with this epic draft pick announcement.
Let’s have a refresher:
Pearson’s pick announcement will go down in history as one of the funniest, best troll jobs in the history of the NFL Draft. The fact that it happened in Philadelphia is even better.
But what David Akers did after the Eagles went out last season and won the Super Bowl?
Well, this was just great:

The saga that is now two years deep is going to continue to get better and better. Specifically, the rivalry between the Cowboys and Eagles on Draft weekend is boiling over, and we can’t get enough of it.
Akers obviously has some bragging rights as the Eagles are Super Bowl champions, but his zinger about the players the Cowboys and every other team picking not even being born the last time the Cowboys won a championship?
Priceless.
The fact that the Eagles moved up to get a big time prospect coupled with this epic announcement makes this whole situation even sweeter.
After losing Trey Burton to the Chicago Bears in free agency, the Eagles stepped up in round two and got a player in South Dakota State tight end Dallas Goedert who many thought could be a first round pick at some point or another.
Goedert is a matchup type of player who has drawn some comparisons to Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
That’s high praise for a player coming from such a small school, but Goedert definitely has that type of playmaking ability. The Eagles now have to extract it from him.
