The Redskins should have ample receivers for Alex Smith to target. While Redskins’ fans have grown used to losing one of their best every year when Jordan Reed goes down, the tight end picked here won’t replace Reed’s pass-catching prowess but offers something that could prove just as crucial to this Redskins team, great blocking.

The Redskins picked a TE in last year’s draft that was considered by many to be the best blocking TE in the draft when they took Jeremy Sprinkle. The Skins would do well to repeat that move. At 6’5 250, Izzo is an old school TE and is considered the best blocking TE in the draft. Imagine having the best O-line in the league and being able to put Ryan Izzo and Jeremy Sprinkle on the field in two TE sets. It almost wouldn’t matter who ran the ball.
