Chicago Bears: 2018 Schedule Win-Loss Predictions
By Erik Lambert
The Chicago Bears 2018 schedule is out and the opinions are already flying. Is it too strong? Is the bye week too early? The usual stuff.
More than anything, what people want to know most is how many games will the Bears win this year? Only the Bears can actually provide an answer to that. Still, predictions are popular in these situations and it’s a good chance to read where and when the team might be able to make a run at a possible playoff berth. Or at least a winning record. Is it possible this year for Chicago? Let’s see how the games play out.
Week 1: at Green Bay (SNF)
Another year, another primetime appearance at Lambeau Field. The last two times have not gone well for the Bears as they were crushed 26-7 and 35-14. Aaron Rodgers will be back healthy and hopes are the Packers new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine corrects the problems on that side of the ball. Chicago will have to score to win, and they might not be ready for that. Loss (0-1)
Week 2: vs. Seattle (MNF)
Things are not well in Seattle. The team has been on a steady decline the past couple years and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011 last season. Their once loaded roster is depleted and missing many of the big names that made it great, especially on defense. This time it’s the Bears who have the young, up-and-coming roster against the former contender. Win (1-1)
Week 3: at Arizona
Age has finally caught up to the Cardinals. Carson Palmer retired. Bruce Arians retired. Larry Fitzgerald is nearing retirement. This is a team in transition and sorely needing a rebuild. Right now Sam Bradford or Mike Glennon are their choices at quarterback. The Bears defense should have no problem dealing with one or the other. Win (2-1)
Week 4: vs. Tampa Bay
Chicago has had problems with the Buccaneers the past two seasons, getting humiliated in each of their visits down to Florida in 2016 and 2017. At last the tables will be turned a little bit as they get to play host this time. For what it’s worth, the Bucs were an impressive 1-7 on the road last season. It won’t be a gimme but the Bears are a different team now. Win (3-1)
