Rounds 2-3

In this scenario, the Broncos still have the 40th overall pick, but they obviously traded the 71st to the 49ers to move back up and get Josh Rosen. They also have picks 96 and 99.

Two areas the Broncos want to address on day two are likely at cornerback and linebacker.

I think they’d use their top pick in round two on a corner…

2nd round, 40th overall: Anthony Averett, CB, Alabama

2nd round, 56th overall: Josh Sweat, EDGE, Florida State

3rd round, 96th overall (from BUF): Josey Jewell, LB, Iowa

3rd round, 99th overall (compensatory pick): John Kelly, RB, Tennessee

In this scenario, the Broncos get a new cornerback who can likely be inserted into the starting lineup as a nickel as soon as this year, and they also get a stud linebacker in Josey Jewell and a running back to replace C.J. Anderson in John Kelly.

They also make an interesting pick at the back end of round two with Josh Sweat, who has huge upside as a pass rusher with freakish athleticism, long arms, and long speed.
