Odell Beckham Jr.: The 3 Likeliest Trade Destinations
By Erik Lambert
Odell Beckham Jr. always finds a way to make headlines and he’s at it again. Now the New York Giants are considering a trade to move him out.
The odds of this happening aren’t favorable. It just doesn’t feel like the Giants would actually give up their best weapon because of money or personality issues. This is the same franchise that dealt with Lawrence Taylor, after all. Point being this scenario heavily depends on how badly Beckham wants out. If he tries to force the issue on his contract and becomes a distraction, Dave Gettleman will pull the trigger.
The more interesting question is where would the Giants send him? The likelihood is the asking price will be high, for obvious reasons. Not to mention the looming contract situation. That means a team needs draft capital and money to spare in order to make such a deal work. The list will certainly be narrowed with such parameters, but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Here is a quick rundown of three potential landing spots for the mercurial receiver.
#3: Jacksonville Jaguars
A lot of people aren’t happy with how the Jaguars have handled their wide receiver position. They let Allen Robinson walk in favor of keeping Marqise Lee and throwing a lot of money at the unproven Donte Moncrief. This passing offense doesn’t feel like it got better. Tom Coughlin may have the golden key to changing that. He coached Beckham in New York and understands how to handle him. Jacksonville is a contender and closer to his home in Louisiana. It comes down to whether the Jaguars would be able to find the money and the picks.
#2: Los Angeles Rams
Word has already filtered out that the Rams are talking to the Giants about Beckham. It’s become clear from every move they’ve made to this point that they’re going after a Super Bowl in 2018. The one position they haven’t locked down is a wide receiver after losing Sammy Watkins in free agency. They already gave up multiple picks for Marcus Peters. Might as well try to go the distance for Beckham too. He’d be a tremendous weapon for Jared Goff. Whether Sean McVay can control all those personalities? That’s another story.

#1: Cleveland Browns
This is the only team that has the draft capital, the money, and the bait to make a Beckham trade sound viable. Cleveland is stacked with high draft picks and a boatload of salary cap space. They could give up plenty of both and still have a wealth left over. They also have Jarvis Landry, who is a former teammate and close friend of Beckham from their days at LSU. The idea of joining a receiving corps with Landry and Josh Gordon would appeal to any receiver.
