2018 NFL Draft: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be the next team to jump another in the first round of the draft, only quarterbacks aren’t involved…

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in need of pass rushers, and while their recent signing of Vinny Curry helps, they need a cornerstone piece for their defense moving forward.

That piece could very well be Bradley Chubb, one of the best (probably the best) defensive players in this year’s draft class. The only problem is, they may be picking too low to secure him.

I don’t know that the Cleveland Browns are overly likely to pick Chubb at number four overall, though that would certainly be intriguing, and with the top three picks expected to be quarterbacks, the logical spot for the Buccaneers to trade up to is number five overall.

That would mean making a likely draft day trade with the Denver Broncos, who seem to have one foot in and another out of the quarterback derby in this year’s draft class.

More from NFL Mocks

The Indianapolis Colts already made a trade down to the number six overall slot with the New York Jets, so while the Jets are going up to get their quarterback, the Colts would probably love for Chubb to fall to them at six overall.

The Buccaneers will have to pay the price to ensure that doesn’t happen.

This year’s draft and this offseason in general is really thin at the edge positions. There are not many guys that have the ability to be a cornerstone piece for your defense, but Chubb is one of them in my opinion.

Chubb does everything extremely well, he’s athletic, he has the ideal size, and he’s a hard worker. There’s nothing about his game I feel really hesitant about, which makes him worthy of trading some day two/day three picks to move up and get.

For the Buccaneers to hop over the Colts at number six overall, they would likely have to surrender a third round pick.

For Chubb, it would be worth it.
