Arizona Cardinals: Sam Bradford, Mike Glennon, Tyrann Mathieu Transaction Grades
Grading the Glennon Signing
Glennon signed a three-year deal worth $45 million with the Chicago Bears last offseason but vastly underperformed in his lone season with the team, losing his job to rookie Mitchell Trubisky and eventually resulting in his release earlier this week.
He proved worthy of a starting shot during his tenure in Tampa Bay, where he capitalized on his limited opportunities as a backup when called upon. Those results led to the Chicago signing, but didn’t take him any further.
However, this two year deal is very cheap, paying the veteran $4 million per season, a bargain at the quarterback position. He’ll be the clear backup to Bradford unless they opt to draft another quarterback to compete with him.
Its a very low-risk deal for Arizona that could prove a steal should Bradford run into further injury issues. While the deal isn’t flashy, it could serve it’s purpose. It could also give Glennon a shot to land another big deal like the one he got from Chi-town.
