NFL Free Agency: Ndamukong Suh possible destinations
With the Miami Dolphins set to release defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who could the star defensive lineman sign with as a free agent?
The Miami Dolphins are reportedly making a bunch of changes to their roster prior to the start of the 2017 season, and former big money free agent signing Ndamukong Suh is part of the mass exodus.
According to reports, Suh will be among the players let go by the Dolphins and will be a post-June 1st cut, meaning his salary cap savings will be more for 2019 than 2018.
Suh will be leaving South Beach a very wealthy man.
Suh played his college ball at Nebraska and is from Portland, Oregon, so he’s really been all over the country as far as where he’s played football. Where might he play next?
A lot of times, and especially in cases where a guy doesn’t have to worry about how much money he’s making, you can look for coaching connections around the league.
Unfortunately for the Philadelphia Eagles, who employ Jim Schwartz as their defensive coordinator, they don’t have the snaps available, nor the funds, to sign Suh.
So that option is probably off the table.
It’s also safe to rule out a return to the Lions.
Here are a few options and why they make sense for Suh in free agency:
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks seem to be taking on a major youth movement right now, so adding the 31-year old Suh may not make a ton of sense on the surface but if the price is right, Suh could be a nice addition for Pete Carroll and the Seahawks.

As I mentioned, he’s from Oregon and may relish the opportunity to play professionally in the upper northwest part of the country. The Seahawks could be losing Sheldon Richardson in free agency, so Suh could come in and be a bandage for them.
Denver Broncos
The Broncos’ interior defensive line is pretty good but nose tackle Domata Peko has one year left on his contract and is obviously up there in age.
Vance Joseph, the Broncos’ head coach, was Suh’s defensive coordinator in Miami and if Denver can get Suh on a reasonable multi-year contract, he could be a nice piece for that defensive line.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons could be a nice scheme fit for Suh, playing in Dan Quinn’s defense. They have a bunch of defensive linemen up for free agency this year, and despite having limited cap space, Suh is a player that might interest the Falcons on a short-term contract.
