Can the Seattle Seahawks recreate the Legion of Boom in the 2018 NFL Draft?

Times have changed in Seattle with the once firce Legion of Boom crippling before our eyes. Michael Bennett has been traded to Philadelphia, Richard Sherman is not expected to return, and Kam Chancellor’s injury may force him out of town.

Now the Seahawks have eight draft picks to work with this offseason to rebuild not just a dominant defense, but an offense that doesn’t soly rely on the magic of Russell Wilson.

Here are five positions the Seahawks will look to address this year:

Cornerback – Richard Sherman appears to be leaving following an achillies injury, leaving the Seahawks with Jeremy Lane and Shaquill Griffin. Considering the Seahawks nearly traded Lane to Houston last year, they clearly have little faith in him as a long-term piece.

Safety – Kam Chancellor’s neck injury puts his future in jeopardy despite his vocal desires to return. Pete Carroll said it would be hard to see Chancellor playing again, signaling a changing of the guard.

Wide Receiver – Adding depth at wide receiver will be considered with Paul Richardson entering free agency. With Tyler Lockett and Doug Baldwin as the only established receivers and Amarah Darboh flashing little as a rookie talent should be added on the backside.

Pass Rush – Michael Bennett’s presence will be missed by Seattle, and another pass rusher needs to be added.

Quarterback – Russell Wilson is the only quarterback on the roster signed for next season, leaving the Seahawks vulnerable. A late round development arm should be used to add depth.
