Saquon Barkley now a favorite for the Browns’ top pick
Star running back Saquon Barkley is now reportedly the favorite for the number one pick, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network…
Saquon Barkley had a really good Scouting Combine.
How good?
According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Barkley cannot be counted out for the Browns’ top overall pick in April’s draft.
As a matter of fact, Garafolo believes Barkley will be their pick as of this point in time.

This would be a very interesting plan by the Browns, and I can’t say if I had two picks in the top five that I would do it any differently.

There have been reports already this offseason that the Browns are not smitten by any of the quarterbacks in this year’s draft in particular, so passing on taking one at that top overall spot is not out of the question.
That would allow them to get the one player in this draft they covet the most, and then just take whatever quarterback they like the best at number four overall, whoever is available. The Browns also have plenty of draft capital to trade up from that number four spot and secure the quarterbck of their choosing at number three overall, as it looks more and more likely that the Giants will pass on a quarterback in round one as well.
This is not a shocking development, but not all Browns fans are going to be giddy about their team getting ‘cute’ about the quarterback position again. This team has long lacked a true franchise player at that position, and taking one first overall doesn’t necessarily fix everything, but it definitely helps provide the Browns with some actual direction.
If the Browns were to take Barkley with the top overall pick, it would be hard to blame them. Anyone who watched him in college and what he did at the Scouting Combine can tell — he’s a superstar in the making.
