Josh Allen making jaw-dropping throws at Scouting Combine
Potential top pick Josh Allen is making some jaw-dropping throws at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. How high will his stock rise?
We all know that Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen has a great arm, but sometimes he makes throws that make your jaw drop to the floor.
There are no pads and there’s no live defense, but some of the throws Allen is making in drills at the Scouting Combine are certainly helping his case to potentially be the top overall pick in the draft, or one of the top five picks in the draft.
If he can do this on a more consistent basis, it’s going to be tough to argue with the team that picks him…
I mean, there are a handful of players in the league that can make these types of throws with consistency. Allen’s arm strength is unbelievable, and not only can he sling the ball into tight windows, he is capable of dropping the ball into a basket downfield with great touch.
In addition to absolutely killing the workout as far as throwing the ball, Allen ran a 4.75 second 40-yard dash at 6-foot-5, 237 pounds.

In other words, Allen has proven himself to be the absolute ideal height, weight, speed, hand size for a quarterback, and then you pair all of those traits with his elite arm strength and natural athleticism.
It’s really tough not to be impressed by Allen, just in general. When you watch him on tape, his accuracy is an obvious issue. I think that his decision making was a major question mark. And I also felt like there were times when Allen would go cold like a hitter in baseball, and sort of get dejected. He wore his emotions on his sleeves at Wyoming, and we saw how pumped he was in the team’s bowl game when he started off with three gorgeous touchdown throws.
The questions for Allen have nothing to do with his personality or character, but simply why he was so inaccurate at times against a lower level of competition collegiately, and why he sort of shrunk in big games.
The last three times we’ve seen Allen (the Potato Bowl, the Senior Bowl, and now the Combine) he’s looked incredible.
So, we’ll see how this changes his overall grade, if at all. But he is a huge winner from the Combine.
