Bill Polian thinks Nick Foles is worth a lot of draft capital

ESPN’s Bill Polian, a longtime NFL executive and Hall of Famer, feels like Nick Foles is worth many high draft picks. Is he right?

Bill Polian has not had a lot of popular opinions in recent days, and he may have had one of the wildest ideas I’ve heard in a long time on ESPN’s NFL Live.

Polian, who drafted Peyton Manning in 1998 with the Indianapolis Colts, said that he thinks the Eagles shouldn’t entertain trade offers for Super Bowl MVP quarterback Nick Foles that don’t start with a couple of really high draft picks.

Really high.

When I was considering Foles’ trade value after the Super Bowl, the idea of perhaps a first round pick crossed my mind, but even the more I thought about that, the more I realized that would be a lot for a team to give up.

Not only would you have to give up a high draft pick to get this guy, but then you would have to re-sign him to a long-term deal on good faith that he would be the same player he was the final six games of the 2017 season and not the player he was in St. Louis with the Rams.

More from NFL Mocks

Foles has certainly proven himself with the Eagles, on multiple stints with the team, and he did to a degree with Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs as well.

There’s reason to believe Foles could be an effective starting quarterback in the NFL, but I would maybe trade two first round picks and two second round picks for one of the better quarterbacks in the league.

But for Nick Foles?

That would be a fireable offense for a general manager if it didn’t work out, and you’d be betting the future of your team — literally — that it would.

Foles is a desirable asset as a player, but not at that kind of ridiculous price.
