How much would it take the Chiefs to move Marcus Peters this offseason?

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk suggests that the Kansas City Chiefs could be looking to move Marcus Peters, one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

Despite being one of the most talented players in the NFL and just 25-years-old, Peters being expendable makes sense considering his recent antics. Against the Jets he threw an official’s flag into the stands and later returned to the sideline without his uniform. Following a dispute with a member of the coaching staff he was suspended for one game by the team.

In just three seasons Peters has been either fined or forced to forfeit salary four times: twice for throwing the official’s flag into the stands, once for throwing a ball into the stands, and once for unsportsmanlike conduct against Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

Kansas City has already set themselves up to add two cornerbacks this offseason with the pending trade of Alex Smith to the Redskins for corner Kendall Fuller and the signing of free agent David Amerson.

Peters is owed $1.7 million next season in what will be the final year of his rookie contract. Kansas City also has the right to exercise a fifth-year option on the former first round pick worth approximately $9.5 million.

Florio suggests that the Cleveland Browns and former Chiefs general manager John Dorsey could be interested in acquiring Peters for the right price.

Cleveland holds the first and fourth overall picks this year, while the Chiefs are without a first round pick following the trade to draft Patrick Mahomes. Could the fourth-overall pick be enough for Peters? Linebackers Roquan Smith or Tremaine Edmunds would be potential options for the Chiefs if they were able to trade up.

New England might be a landing spot for a cornerback, but what price would Bill Belichick be willing to set on a troubled player success has Peters? Miami, Seattle, Dallas, Indianapolis, and Carolina would also be potential landing spots for the All-Pro corner.
