Free Agency:

Chase Daniel (QB)

Glennon gets cut and Mark Sanchez is a free agent. The Bears may choose to retain Sanchez but Nagy will likely still want familiar depth behind Trubisky. He has worked closely with Chase Daniel in the past at Kansas City. Daniel is a quality veteran and proven to be a reliable backup.

Marqis Lee (WR)

Pace may try to lure a top receiver but his MO has been to scoop the second tier markets for possible hidden gems. Lee would definitely qualify. In a conservative Jaguars offense, he managed to put up 702 yards this season. One must be curious how he might do in a more open scheme.

Paul Richardson (WR)

With Richardson his problem is two-fold. Not only is the Seattle Seahawks a run-first team, he also was buried on the depth chart until this season by other veterans like Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse, and Tyler Lockett. His 703-yard breakout year in 2017 proves he’s got potential.

Greg Robinson (OT)

Most view him as a major draft bust but Robinson showed flashes of improvement during his brief stint in Detroit. He’s still young and an immensely gifted lineman from a physical standpoint. Now the Bears have one of the best coaches in the business in Harry Hiestand on board. Roll the dice.

Aaron Lynch (OLB)

Lynch had six sacks as a rookie in 2014 when Vic Fangio was his coach. After that he slowly petered out as the 49ers constantly changed coaching staffs and then schemes. He needs a fresh start. The Bears need young depth at outside linebacker. It’s an easy sell.

Dontae Johnson (CB)

Another 49ers connection for Fangio, who loves long corners. Dontae Johnson is 6’2″ and played well as a rookie. Like Lynch, he found himself unable to progress due to the constant changes up top. If the Bears lose any of their corners to free agency, he’s a worthwhile cheap risk.

Eric Reid (S)

What’s that? Another San Francisco connection? This is easily the biggest of the bunch. Eric Reid was a Pro Bowler under Fangio out west and seemed poised for stardom. Then, as stated above, the wheels came off. The new scheme doesn’t agree with him. A reunion with Fangio might.
