New salary cap:  $78.5 million

There are a few names not included in this list that some people will be upset about. It starts with Pernell McPhee and Willie Young. It’s true that both should be considered expendable since they’re struggling with injuries and age is becoming a factor. However, the Bears have zero young depth at pass rusher so that can’t afford to be picky. Same goes for Marcus Cooper at corner. They have three guys set to come out of contracts at that position. Like it or not, they need him for depth.

Glennon is the most obvious ejection. The Bears aren’t paying him $16 million to sit on the bench. Wheaton was almost completely useless in 2017 thanks to rampant injury issues. Freeman went on injured reserve with a torn pec, got suspended for PEDs and is in his 30s. Demps is turning 33 and coming off a season-ending injury of his own. In his absence, Adrian Amos also re-emerged as a viable option at safety.
