Le’Veon Bell doesn’t appear to want to play for the New York Jets
It doesn’t seem like Pittsburgh Steelers running back and 2018 free agent Le’Veon Bell wants to play for the New York Jets…
If you’re a New York Jets fan and you’re getting excited about all of your cap space in the 2018 offseason, don’t get your hopes up for Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell.
Bell, who has never been shy on social media or sharing his thoughts in general, doesn’t seem to fancy the idea of playing for the Jets.
A fan threw out a hypothetical situation to Bell on Twitter, and this is how he responded:

To be clear, this seems to be an indicator that Bell wouldn’t take $60 million in guaranteed money from the Jets if that’s something they wanted to offer. Over the course of a five-year deal, that is an average of at least $12 million per season.
I don’t know what Bell thinks he’s going to get on the open market, but he probably won’t get that much.

It’s good to know, though, that we can cross a hypothetical team off of his list. He’s basically saying there’s no realistic amount of money that could get him to play for the Jets. I suppose a statement like this would prevent the Jets from making any sort of play to get Bell at all, since it’s clear he doesn’t want to play there.
The bidding for Bell’s services could get interesting, as there are a number of teams with a lot of cap room that he probably wouldn’t necessarily ‘prefer’ to play for, but they could offer him so much money, he may not be able to turn them down.
For instance, Bell is an Ohio native, and the Browns lead the league in cap space. I’m not saying they would go after him, but if they wanted to, they could make him an offer he couldn’t refuse, and allow him a couple of shots at the Steelers every season as well.
The Oakland Raiders are expected to figure into the mix for Bell’s services as well, and he’s one of the most interesting free agents to me because he’s obviously an elite talent, but he will be more expensive than any other running back in the NFL — by far — and that’s obviously a position where you can get elite production from guys on rookie contracts.
