Wyoming quarterback and 2018 NFL Draft hopeful Josh Allen said he wants to be the quarterback that turns around the Cleveland Browns…

At this point in time, I’m putting it in pencil that the Cleveland Browns are going to take Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen with the first overall pick.

They will be able to groom him for a year behind a veteran player like Alex Smith, but more than that, Allen actually wants to be with the Browns.

No, seriously.

Guys will say a lot of things to get picked number one overall, but I think Allen is genuine in his desire to play for the Browns, while other players like Josh Rosen are genuine in their desire to not play for them.

Playing in Cleveland is not a high pressure situation by any means. The expectations are as low as they’ve ever been and at this point, it seems they are just throwing anything at the wall and seeing what sticks. But Allen seems ready to embrace the culture the Browns have, and I admire him for that.

This is a guy who played his college ball at Wyoming, and obviously is used to playing in tough situations, both in terms of the talent around him, and the weather conditions.

With Allen’s big arm and mobility, he could be exactly what John Dorsey and Hue Jackson are looking to develop in a young quarterback while they bring in a veteran to compete and perhaps get this team winning some ball games as soon as 2018.

The Browns’ roster isn’t as bad as it seems right now, and with some of the most cap space in the league as well as the best draft capital you could want (two top five picks), they are poised to make a quick turnaround.

Allen wants in on it.

I think it seems likely we can count on the Browns hearing about this, and certainly throughout the next few months they’ll be able to gauge where certain players are at and come to what they believe will be a franchise altering conclusion.

Allen making a case for himself in a place where seemingly no quarterback really wants to play? That definitely helps.
