Matt Nagy has just about rounded out the rest of the coaching staff. Now he and GM Ryan Pace are free to turn the Chicago Bears towards the off-season.

Odds are they’ve already begun enacting a plan to attack it from free agency through the draft. Of course there’s no telling how aggressive they might end up being. Teams that change coaching staffs tend to be unpredictable. This includes the possibility of an unexpected trade. Pace has shown he has no qualms about making such a bold move in the past. Could he hatch one in 2018?

Time to find out. Here’s the latest complete off-season breakdown for Chicago.

Trade:

A lot of people might be shocked by this move considering Nick Kwiatkoski has shown considerable promise whenever asked to start on defense. So why do the Bears end up trading him? Well for starters other teams have seen his progress too, so his value is elevated. Also the team is fairly deep at inside linebacker given the way Christian Jones emerged this past season. They can afford to make a bold move like this.

Not only does GM Ryan Pace regain the original 4th rounder the Bears spent on Kwiatkoski in 2016, they get an additional 5th as a bonus. The 7th they send back to Washington in the deal is merely a sweetener to close it. This move will give them far more flexibility in the draft. This is especially true given how well Pace has drafted in the middle rounds.
