Ezekiel Elliott is one of the top running backs in the league. Despite missing six games, he still managed to finish 10th in the league 983 yards. He will always be the workhorse in Dallas as long as he’s healthy and available. Rod Smith did a nice job during his absence and figures to be a part of the plan moving forward, but free agent Alfred Morris appears likely to depart and sign elsewhere after doing a serviceable job in Elliott’s absence. This leaves a hole in the Cowboys’ backfield.

Drafting Bo Scarbrough, who is a size and speed freak, would be a nice addition to an already punishing ground game. At 6’2″, 235 lbs, Scarbrough is a tough man to bring down and would add to the physical element of this core of running backs.

The Cowboys’ young secondary was nothing short of impressive throughout this season. Despite losing four key contributors/starters last off-season, the Cowboys spent four draft picks to replace them. Jourdan Lewis and Chidobe Awuzie look like stars in the making. Both did a nice job in coverage and more than held their own. Xavier Woods played everywhere from safety to slot coverage and did a nice job. Marquez White never left the practice squad, but was signed to a futures contract and should compete for a roster spot in 2018. Despite the strong push in 2017, the Cowboys will have to keep looking for help on that side of the ball.

Brandon Facyson has good size for the position, 6’2″ 190 lbs, and is an efficient tackler who doesn’t miss his target often. While he’ll likely need to improve from a technical standpoint, Facyson has the tools that should strengthen the secondary in Dallas.
