It’s no secret the Dallas Cowboys need help on defense, and specifically linebacker. Sean Lee is getting older, and while is still one of the most talented in the NFL, injuries still seem to shadow him every season. Anthony Hitchens played extremely well but suffered through injuries of his own that forced him to miss games. He is also an unrestricted free agent and has likely priced himself out of Dallas. Jaylon Smith is a miracle story, but hope is still the message here as we still never know if he’ll ever be the player he once was.

The Cowboys will have to address this position at some point in the earlier portion of the draft. While it certainly could be resolved earlier, the third round could provide an opportunity to get a difference maker. There’s a good chance he’s gone by the third round, but if Iowa linebacker Josey Jewell is there, he’d make too much sense to pass up on. He’s the prototypical inside linebacker with the quickness and speed to make plays all over the field. While he will be tagged as slightly undersized, the playmaking ability is there.
