7. Rex Ryan

If not for an attrocious start to his color commentary career this year Rex Ryan might be atop the list to replace Gruden. If a loudmouth washed up head coach can’t replace another one, I’m at a loss.

Ryan is like Gruden in that he’s a master at one side of the ball and he’s bounced between teams in the NFL as a head coach. He’s done a quality job working on the NFL set shows but his color commentary debut with Beth Mowins was atrocious.

Certainly, there’s some room for polishing from Ryan, but he would certainly check a majority of the boxes for what ESPN wants next to McDonough.
