Throw #5

This is absolutely incredible.

Mahomes has to avoid pressure here, and starts to retreat to his right and backward.

Let me reiterate that…

He’s running backward.

As he’s running backward and off-balance, he puts a ball between three defenders with absolutely no room for error.

The receiver is coming into the frame at almost full-speed. How Mahomes has the presence of mind to even attempt this throw is incredible. Like another throw or two in this game, he may have gotten away with one here, but the defense’s inability to react to his willingness to make this type of throw is indicative of just how special this kid’s arm talent is.

This game and debut against Denver was an awesome start for Mahomes’ professional career. Though the game was meaningless in terms of the standings and both teams were playing backups all over the place, it was a great showing for the rookie and a sign that he could be ready to take over for the 2018 season.
