Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills, with their cap space and draft capital, are poised to make a big time trade this offseason for Alex Smith, and I think they will pull it off.

Buffalo owns Kansas City’s first round pick this year in the trade they made last year for Patrick Mahomes, but they aren’t going to have to give that back.

For the 34-year old Smith, I think the Bills would likely give up a pick in rounds 2 or 3, but not both. Once again, Smith should come at a bargain price via trade but the Bills can absorb his cap hit and try and make a run at the AFC East next season, while also drafting a player to be their future at the position.

With two first round picks, I would love to see the Bills take a shot at Lamar Jackson, the former Heisman Trophy winner, and get this position settled for the short and long-term.

They are well-equipped to do so now, and having a year or so to learn from Alex Smith would do wonders for Jackson at this level.
