Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins are going to be an interesting team to watch at the quarterback position if Kirk Cousins leaves in free agency, which ultimately I think he will.

Cousins has been franchise tagged by the team twice now, and tagging him a third time would be prohibitive, cost-wise.

That is why I think the Redskins will be interesting players on the veteran quarterback market. The transition tag is also possible for Cousins, but that would also cost the Redskins $29 million, and would make it almost impossible for teams to negotiate a deal around.

So, what about a crazy idea?

The Redskins bring in former number one overall pick Sam Bradford, and use the draft to find a developmental player.

Bradford has not been a model of health, but when he is healthy, he’s a very good player and would excel in Jay Gruden’s offense, just as Cousins has.

The Redskins are picking low enough in the first round of this year’s draft that they won’t be able to get in on the top quarterback prospects without a trade. Colt McCoy is still on their roster, and he could be a bridge type of player, but I would think this team would be in on a player like Bradford, especially if they lose Cousins.

Bradford would come cheaper, obviously, and could be a bargain if he’s able to stay healthy.
