GET READY FOR A SURPRISE

Bill O’Brien (Houston Texans)

Considering he’s gone to the playoffs the past two years, one would think Bill O’Brien has a good amount of job security in Houston. Unfortunately that’s not where the problem is. It seems there might be some heat between him and GM Rick Smith. Given how closely tied Smith is to ownership, it’s not hard to imagine that if one had to go that one would be O’Brien. Mike Mularkey (Tennessee Titans)

It seems rather unfair that Mularkey could be in line to lose his job given he’s on the cusp of leading the Titans to their first back-to-back winning seasons since 2007 and 2008. Perhaps a part of the problem is the regression of Marcus Mariota, who has thrown more interceptions (14) than touchdowns (12) this season. Mularkey was promoted to take Mariota to the next level. Thus far he’s not had enough success in that department.
