Skai Moore 2018 NFL Draft

Moore has bounced back from a surgically-repaired neck injury to reclaim his spot atop the Gamecocks stat sheet. With only a New Year’s Day matchup against Michigan in the Outback Bowl remaining, Moore is on his way to making history. He currently leads South Carolina in tackles by 13 and would become just the 15th player in Division I history to lead his school in tackles all four seasons. His range and instincts make him an ideal fit at weakside linebacker, however his impact will mostly be felt on special teams.

In the late rounds, that’s exactly what Belichick and the Patriots will look for. He can fill the spot currently held by Flowers and made famous by Larry Izzo; a core special teams player who can fill in at times at outside linebacker. The neck injury will scare teams away, but for a playoff team such as the Patriots, the risk is heavily outweighed by the reward.

At one point, the Patriots had two picks in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. With one being traded to Cincinnati for Marquis Flowers and the other headed to Seattle for Cassius Marsh, New England no longer has a pick in the final round. So this will be the final pick of the draft for the Patriots and they could do a lot worse than South Carolina linebacker Skai Moore.
