2018 NFL Draft: Sleeper QB Kyle Lauletta showcased in Senior Bowl
2018 NFL Draft: Sleeper quarterback prospect Kyle Lauletta of Richmond will be showcased in this year’s Reese’s Senior Bowl…
Just about a week ago, I gave you 10 2018 NFL Draft prospects you should be keeping an eye on for the 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl. As you might expect, another week’s worth of accepted invitations will probably force me to create another list of players entirely.
All of these players are worth watching, anyway, but one player that will be of particular interest is Richmond quarterback Kyle Lauletta, who had also accepted an invitation to play in the 2018 East-West Shrine game.
Lauletta is an interesting study, an FCS prospect who has spent the past three seasons as the full-time starter for the Richmond program.
Todd McShay, a former Richmond quarterback and NFL Draft expert/scout, is certainly going to be excited about this kid…
Back on September 6th of 2016, McShay tried to tell us all…
"“I know I’m a homer, but this is warranted. Lauletta, a 6-foot-3 junior, completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 337 yards, three TDs and zero INTs in a 37-20 upset win at Virginia. This comes on the heels of a 2015 season in which Lauletta threw for nearly 3,600 yards and led the Spiders to a 10-4 record and a trip to the FCS semis. Keep an eye on my fellow Spider!”Todd McShay, ESPN (Insider required)"

Lauletta is definitely going to be atop my list now of prospects to watch at the 2018 Senior Bowl.
Despite an increase in passing attempts each of the past three seasons, Lauletta’s completion percentage has increased every year, as has the number of touchdowns he’s thrown.
He’s shown an ability to make plays with his feet, rushing for 12 touchdowns in his time with Richmond as well.
The Senior Bowl doesn’t just give away invitations, and for an FCS quarterback like Lauletta to get invited is a very big deal. He will get to put his skills up against some of the best players in the country, in one of the most loaded Senior Bowl rosters I can remember.
This guy is not a sleeper to everyone, but the Senior Bowl practices will be the first up-close look everyone really gets at him.
