Chicago Bears: One Bold Name For Each Need in 2018
By Erik Lambert
Pass Rusher: Aldon Smith
This is another of those names with loads of personal issues. Somebody who hasn’t played in almost two years and yet is an instant threat the moment he lines up across from an offensive tackle. Aldon Smith may not be the brightest bulb in the cabinet but there are few pass rushers who can match his pure mix of size, length, power and quickness. The guy is honestly unblockable when he really gets going and he’ll be 29-years old at the start of 2018.
A long-term deal is out of the question but renting him for a year or two is certainly something worth entertaining. Other teams will likely steer clear of Smith but the Bears are in such a position where they have to add multiple bodies to a depleted position. Taking a flier on Smith can add a quality rusher across from Leonard Floyd and at the very least buy them time to find a more long-term solution.
