Dallas Cowboys 2018 Mock Draft: Four Rounds
By Brady Lunt
Third Round – Brian O’Neill, OT, Pitt
If anyone has seen the last two Cowboys’ games, we know just how badly the Cowboys need to improve the depth at offensive tackle. Tyron Smith missed two consecutive games and both Chaz Green and Byron Bell were charged with taking over. It wasn’t pretty. Falcons defender Adrian Clayborn set a Falcons’ team record with six sacks over the pair. While it wasn’t as bad against the Eagles, Dak Prescott seemed to be running for his life on about every play. If the Cowboys hope to stay alive throughout the season, they have to find a suitable backup at left tackle.
Brian O’Neill is known around Pitt for being the offensive lineman who’s scored two touchdowns. Those plays highlighted his tremendous athleticism. However, he is also a strong and very sound blocker up front. He has a solid understanding of positioning and has thrived in numerous blocking assignments. He would be a nice project for this offense who should thrive as a swing tackle early on.
