Dallas Cowboys 2018 Mock Draft: Four Rounds
By Brady Lunt
First Round – Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia
Jaylon Smith is still trying to bounce back from a devastating knee injury that nearly ended his career. Anthony Hitchens has been great but has missed a lot of time due to injury himself. Damien Wilson has been having off-the-field issues and has missed time. All-in-all, this unit needs life. Enter Roquan Smith.
Few people knew of Smith before the season started, but he has made a name for himself in a big way. He’s racked up an impressive 91 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Many will point to his lack of size and the impact it may have at the next level. But Smith’s athleticism and instincts are off the charts. He’s an aggressive defender who acts like a magnet to the ball.
Despite being undersized, Smith has been a force on a stingy Georgia defense. His traits should translate well to the next level, like the Steelers’ Ryan Shazier. Smith would be a huge addition to his defense and a likely starter right out of the gate.
