UCLA job the perfect landing spot for Chip Kelly
Chip Kelly has waited long enough and has the perfect job lined up with UCLA
After being fired by the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers Chip Kelly has been off the sidelines for the entire 2017 season. While rumored to be a candidate for every coaching job available Kelly is settling in at ESPN as a college football and NFL studio analyst.
Wearing a suit and tie doesn’t suit Kelly and he looks uncomfortable with his television job. Kelly belongs on the college football sidelines running his offense with players who’ll listen to the former NFL head coach.
Hours after losing to USC, UCLA head coach Jim Mora was fired after six seasons with the Bruins. He’s likely to find a collegiate head coach job once the dust settles at the end of the season., but for now offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch will wear the headset.
UCLA presents the 53-year-old with an opportunity to not only return to the college game, but to the PAC-12 where he dominated with Oregon. Kelly knows the recruiting trails on the west coast and has a team with some major pieces ready to return.
Perhaps the biggest piece for Kelly to work with is the quarterback position. Josh Rosen is expected to declare for the NFL Draft, leaving Kelly with his choice of young quarterbacks at UCLA’s disposal.
Five-star recruit Dorian Thompson-Robinson is a consensus top-50 player in the country and is a hard commit to the Bruins. He’s also one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in high school football, perfectly fitting Kelly’s offense.
Redshirt freshman Devon Modster will also be at Kelly’s disposal, although he’s better suited as a pro-style quarterback.

All the pieces are there for Kelly to make his return to college football: a PAC-12 job, a prestigious program, and the young quarterbacks to mold into superstars. College is where Kelly belongs and there may not be a better place for him than UCLA.
