Jameis Winston Keeps Proving He’s Learned Nothing
By Erik Lambert
Jameis Winston was one of the most successful quarterbacks in college football history, winning a national titles and setting Florida State records.
Everybody knew he was destined to become the #1 overall pick. At the same time there was a growing chorus of voices warning against. Winston, for all his ability on the field, was developing quite the dubious reputation off it. Things start somewhat harmlessly when he was punished for shoplifting crab legs from a local convenience store. Then there was the incident involving a BB gun on campus and him shooting at squirrels.
This soon escalates to much darker territories. In 2013 sexual assault allegations were levied against him by a woman named Erica Kinsman. Ultimately he wasn’t punished for any wrongdoing. The school was forced to pay the woman $950,000 for mishandling the investigation though. It didn’t stop there. Not long after Winston was caught shouting a famous internet meme, “F**k here right in the p***y” at the schools’ Student Union. He was suspended a full game for that.
Now he’s in trouble again.
Winston accused of groping Uber drive last year
According to BuzzFeed News there is an investigation under way looking into a woman accusing Winston of groping her during an Uber ride a year ago.
"“The NFL is investigating an allegation that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston grabbed a female Uber driver’s crotch in 2016, BuzzFeed News has learned.A letter, viewed by BuzzFeed News, was sent from the NFL’s special counsel for investigations, Lisa Friel, to the Uber driver on Thursday. “The League has been informed that you may have been the victim of such a violation perpetrated by Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Jameis Winston. The league takes allegations of this nature very seriously and has opened an investigation into this matter,” the letter read.”"
According to the story Winston was placed in the car by other men. The driver was tasked with taking him to another location. The quarterback first shouted homophobic slurs out the window. Then he proceeded to grab her in the crotch for a period of seconds. Representatives of Winston have since come forth and categorically denied the allegations. Time will tell if that’s true.
The NFL meanwhile is looking to take a harsher line against players connected to domestic violence and sexual misconduct disputes. The six-game suspension of Ezekiel Elliott is expected to become the baseline for the future. Time will tell if Winston is the next high-profile victim of this new policy.

One thing is clear. Considering how issues like this are a heavy part of his history already, it’s apparent that Winston has not matured enough from where he was in college. He’s still failing to keep himself out of troublesome situations. That’s at best. At worst he’s a genuine sexual predator using his vast celebrity as an NFL quarterback to intimidate and impose himself upon women.
