2018 NFL Draft Prospects Who Must Step Up in Week 12
Dorance Armstrong, Jr. (DE – Kansas) vs. Oklahoma

Oklahoma’s Ogbonnia Okoronkwo may be the more familiar name. However, Kansas has an edge rusher of their own who will be playing on Sundays in the future. Junior Dorance Armstrong, Jr. has had a disappointing season thus far, but can put his name and 2018 NFL Draft stock, back on the map with a stellar performance against the Sooners.
Despite starting all 10 games this season, Armstrong has just one sack, which came against pass-happy Texas Tech. This, after he recorded 10 sacks as a sophomore a year ago. It won’t get any easier in week 12 as Armstrong will take on the Heisman, front runner. Lining up primarily at left defensive end this season, Armstrong will avoid Oklahoma’s massive left tackle, Orlando Brown, but quarterback Baker Mayfield will be able to see any pressure created by Armstrong much easier than if he were on the blindside.
There are two schools of thought when it comes to Armstrong’s status for the 2018 NFL Draft. With his production well down from last season, he could decide to return to school and improve his stock. On the other hand, he does play at Kansas and could very easily choose not to go through another one or two win season. A good outing on the big stage against Mayfield and the Sooners may make his decision much easier.
