Malik Hooker out for the season with torn ACL/MCL
Another bump in the road has thrown the Colts season off with Malik Hooker out for the year
Indianapolis Colts fans have waited anxiously for their star quarterback to return, but they’ve now lost their quarterback on defense for the year.
Rookie safety Malik Hooker, Indianapolis’ first-round pick, is out for the season after suffering a torn ACL and MCL against Jacksonville.
Jaguars rookie receiver Keenan Cole delivered a hit on Hooker’s right knee while the safety attempted to tackle receiver Allen Hurns during a 50-yard reception.
Hooker went to the ground but was able to walk off the field.
The 21-year-old safety was an early favorite for the Defensive Rookie of the Year after missing most of Colts training camp with a hamstring injury.
In six games Hooker recorded three interceptions, four pass deflections, and 13 tackles before being knocked out for the season.
Hooker acknowledged his fans on Twitter and acknowledged he would be back. Former Ohio State teammate Raekwon McMillan, who also suffered a season-ending knee injury with Miami, reached out to him on Twitter as well.
He also went to defend himself after people brought up his injury history dating back to college with the Buckeyes.
"And Before Y’all Say Injuries Been A Issue Make Sure Y’all Know Yalls Facts I Only Been Hurt Twice In My Life And Played Through One Of Them"
With Hooker now out for the year the Colts will have to turn to veteran Darius Butler to step up in their secondary. T.J. Green, last year’s second-round pick, will also see more playing time with Hooker now out.

Indianapolis now takes their season to Cincinnati in the midst of Hooker’s injury and wide receiver T.Y. Hilton openly criticizing the offensive line for the entire offenses’ struggles.
