Dallas Cowboys Four Round Mock Draft
By Brady Lunt
Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson
It’s no secret the Cowboys seem devoid of talent along their defensive front. DE DeMarcus Lawrence currently leads the NFL in sacks with 8.5, and DE/DT David Irving managed two sacks against the Packers in his first game back from a four-game suspension.
Tyrone Crawford is in the second year of a five year, $45 million extension, but despite being nominated a team captain has failed to live up to his contract thus far. All in all, this defensive front has had a lot to do with the Cowboys’ struggles in closing out big games.
To rectify this, the Cowboys draft one of the best defensive lineman in the draft. Christian Wilkins is an athletic marvel. Despite weighing in at 300 lbs, Wilkins demonstrates tremendous athleticism and fluidity. His three sacks this year aren’t reflective of the disruption he causes on a weekly basis, as he thrives on making plays in opposing backfields.
He has outstanding burst, accelerating quickly through his blocks and knows how to use his quickness and leverage to his advantage. Next to Maliek Collins, Wilkins would give the Cowboys one of the best young tandems in the league.
