The Arizona Cardinals appear dead in the water. This after news came down that aging quarterback Carson Palmer is done for the year.

The 38-year old broke his arm against the Los Angeles Rams. This once again leaves the Cardinals QB position in a state of flux. It’s hard not to wonder whether or not the Palmer era has officially come to an end. He flirted with retirement this past offseason before choosing to return. Another down season and now a bad injury feels like a signal it’s time to hang it up. The problem is if he does that, what do the Cardinals do?

Depending on how aggressive they want to be, they might take advantage of a situation developing elsewhere. The Cleveland Browns are 0-7. It’s blatantly apparent this team has serious issues that aren’t going away. Nowhere is that clearer than quarterback. For the second time this season head coach Hue Jackson made the decision to bench rookie DeShone Kizer. This is a the biggest signal yet that the coaching staff has little confidence in the 2nd round pick to be the capable starter they need.

The Browns may choose to just start fresh in 2018

One thing is clear. They are likely going to once again end up with a top 2-3 pick at the end of this season. If that’s the case they will be in position to take one of the top quarterbacks available, be it Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen. If that’s the case why not cut your losses and try to get something back for Kizer? Cleveland certainly isn’t shy about trading and neither is Arizona.

Kizer is exactly the type of talent that Bruce Arians likes. He’s big, athletic and boasts a strong arm. Arians also is a QB specialist who can iron out some of the persistent mechanical issues that the rookie has suffered through for weeks. It would instantly solve the Cardinals’ quarterback succession plan. At the same time it would get Cleveland a pick back while allowing them to get a mulligan on the position next year.
