#2:  Dave Toub (STC, Kansas City Chiefs)

It’s hard not to feel for Dave Toub. The man has been consistently the best special teams coordinator in the NFL for the past decade plus. Everywhere he’s been the team has success in their third phase, often game-changing success. Head coach Andy Reid has stated over and over that Toub deserves his shot at the big job. Specializing in offense or defense doesn’t make great head coaches. Understanding how to motivate and utilize players does. He can do that.

This would be a feel-good story for Bears fans. Toub was a folk hero in Chicago during his run from 2004 to 2012. He was the mastermind that brought the Devin Hester phenomenon to the NFL and found creative ways to fake teams out. This team is in his blood. Bringing him home to carry the organization back to success would be so fitting. The one concern, aside from what was stated earlier is his age. He’ll be 56 next year. It’s always a question of how long a head coach can maintain that edge needed to find consistent success.
