Chicago Bears: Power Ranking John Fox Replacements

#3: Matt Patricia (DC, New England Patriots)
It’s amazing how many people have abandoned the bandwagon for Matt Patricia this year. Sure his defense is struggling, ranked 32nd in the NFL. At the same time that’s not entirely fair to say he’s a bad coach because of this. Have people forgotten the man has two Super Bowl rings? This also marks the first season during his tenure, a span of six years where his defense ranked lower than 10th in points allowed. One bad year should not erase the five other good ones.
Patricia has dealt with a number of problems this year from losing key players to free agency and trades to rampant injuries. It has sucked the talent well dry and no amount of great coaching can cover up for bad players. Patricia is a Patriots purest. He’s only been with that organization in his NFL career, so that raises a slight concern about his staff building prowess. Still his engineering background and motivational skills make him an intriguing head coach option.
