2018 NFL Draft: Week 6 Prospect Stock Report
Stock Down: Defense
Tarvarus McFadden (CB – Florida State): One week after severely misjudging a Hail Mary attempt by Wake Forest before being bailed out by teammate Derwin James, Tarvarus McFadden’s luck ran out. As seen in the photo above, McFadden was in coverage on Miami’s game-winning pass and was unable to make the stop prior to the receiver crossing the goal line.
Back to the Wake Forest game in week five. Here’s a look at the final play in which McFadden is caught out of position and all he can do is turn around and watch James save the day.
The Hurricanes coaching staff took note of this and attacked McFadden when the game was on the line. The Florida State corner wasn’t out of position this time around, but he didn’t get turned around quick enough, allowing a back-shoulder throw to reach the receiver.
McFadden possesses all the physical tools you want in a shutdown cornerback, but his mental makeup prevents him from being the top 2018 NFL Draft prospect at his position. It’s been a down year for the Seminoles, who at 1-3 are out of the playoff hunt.
