Ryan Leaf: Donald Trump

This is going to sound like more piling on Donald Trump but honestly the comparison is fair. Ryan Leaf came into the league surrounded by hype. He promised so many things and seemed to have the bravado and talent to pull it off. At the same time he was battling a proven name from a football family in Peyton Manning for the right to go first overall. The same went for Trump. He made lots of promises and faced off against Hillary Clinton during the election.

Leaf went #2 overall and things started off well enough with two victories. Then things went off the rails as he was exposed against Kansas City. After that he spiraled down into a pit. Not only was he atrocious on the field, he snapped at the media who tried to ask him questions and came across as somebody who thought he was above the law. Given the avalanche of controversy Trump has endured and caused since January, the comparison is fair.
