Joe Namath:  Bill Clinton

The paralells between Joe Namath and Bill Clinton aren’t hard to spot. Both were men who brought something a little different to their respective professions. Namath was brash, cocky, and unafraid to express himself to the cameras in the buttoned-up era of the 1960s. It was the same for Clinton. He was legitimately “cool.” That’s an impossible thing to fathom for a politician, but it was the truth. Each man altered the perception of their positions upon arrival.

They also share a somewhat dubious reputation for voracious sexual appetites. Not to mention that their bold decision-making at times got them in trouble. Namath tended to throw a lot of interceptions while Clinton saw some of his policies blow up in his face because he hadn’t taken time to think before implementing them. They were men drive by instinct and impulse more than careful preparation. It’s what made them beloved by many but also criticized by some.
