The 2017 NFL rookie class has been excellent, and we have a very interesting battle on our hands for rookie of the year awards on both sides of the football. Kansas City seems to have a budding superstar in Kareem Hunt, and he leads this week’s rookie rankings.
That being said, we have plenty of top performers to cover now that we are three weeks into the NFL’s regular season. Let’s take a look at the top 10 rookie of the year candidates, starting with:
Josh Jones just exploded onto the scene in a week three game against the Cincinnati Bengals, racking up 11 tackles, two sacks, and a whopping eight stops in the running game.
Jones wasn’t flawless in this game, but he made some big time plays to get recognized on this list as one of the top rookies in the league so far this season, with his role and his overall performance increasing and getting better every week.
After not playing in week one, Jones played 61 of 61 possible snaps on Sunday against the Bengals, and with the way he played in this game, he figures to have a major role in Green Bay’s defense moving forward.
The athleticism and ability to make plays in the box were on full display from Jones in this breakthrough performance.
