8. Tre’Davious White, CB, Bills

Tre’Davious White is an ascending rookie of the year candidate who has held up incredibly well in coverage through the first two games of the season.

Like we wrote in last week’s entry, the selection of White in the first round of this past year’s draft allowed the Bills to move on from both Stephon Gillmore and Ronald Darby, and feel good about it.

On the surface, that didn’t appear to be the best of ideas. Throwing a rookie cornerback into the fray like that and putting that kind of confidence in him was a bold move, but so far it’s paying off for Sean McDermott and his staff in Buffalo.

White is playing like a veteran cornerback, allowing just 50 percent of the passes thrown his way to be caught. He’s also shown an ability to play the run really well, racking up three stops in the run game through two weeks.
