DeForest Buckner, DL, 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers wanted to re-create the twin tower pairing we all came to know and love in their time at Oregon with both DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead.

Buckner was impressive as a rookie for the 49ers, racking up 76 tackles and six sacks in 15 starts. He’s off to an impressive start yet again here in 2017, and was a destructive force against the Seattle Seahawks in week two:

As you can see in a fairly short clip, Buckner has the ability to line up all over the line of scrimmage and make plays. Tackles and guards can’t handle his length, and when he gets leverage, he’s really difficult to stop in pursuit of the quarterback.

Just look at how massive this young player looks in comparison even to offensive linemen.

He reminds me physically of a young Calais Campbell, and the 49ers are going to be counting on him to penetrate through the Los Angeles Rams’ offensive line and make these kinds of plays consistently.
