For the second time in three games this season, Allen’s stock moves down. This is a player who showed off all kinds of skills last season as a sophomore, but has really faltered here in the early portion of his junior season.

Allen was absolutely dominated by Oregon, but a large part of that has to do with the way the team played around him.

Wyoming is just not good.

I got a lot of grief for saying before the season that Allen’s stock might depend on the players around him a bit, and that because of the program he plays for, we could see inflated numbers of dropped passes.

Well…

Not only have we seen dropped passes, but the offensive line play has not been good.

Against Oregon, Allen was actually hurt and had to run for his life on a number of plays. he wasn’t able to consistently step into throws, and he was not done any favors by his offensive coordinator either. Against a defense that is bigger, better, faster, and stronger, the Wyoming offense looked absolutely overwhelmed.

I think it’s important to consider all of those things with Allen, but on the limited chances he had, he didn’t make many ‘NFL’ throws. He has proven that he can make the throws, but consistently?

This kid still has a long way to go.
