Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens: 5 Things to Watch
By Andrew Kim
Will the Ravens run game be consistent against an improved Browns run defense?
The Browns defense did their part in limiting Le’Veon Bell as he rushed for 32 yards on ten carries. Even though he had a lighter workload and hadn’t practiced as much as he was not with the team for most of the preseason, it still is impressive that a young Browns defense made sure to keep Bell in check.
The Ravens will have to hope that the run game is just as consistent as week 1, as Terrance West and Javorius “Buck” Allen combined for 40 carries in 1 game. They combined for 151 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown as the Ravens will try to run down the clock and minimize turnovers.
Running against guys like Danny Shelton, Jabrill Peppers, Jamie Collins, Christian Kirksey, and their other defensive lineman will be a challenge, and even though Myles Garrett is out for week two as well, this group is still relatively solid on run defense.
The Ravens put Danny Woodhead on injured reserve this week while activating Jeremy Langford to the active roster from the practice squad. Although they both will impact the passing game, Langford will be given a few carries to split with Allen and West. Langford is a starting caliber running back and gives the Ravens some speed that they don’t have on the roster as a complementary back.
